I'm sipping my tea and having a treat this morning. Very few children trick or treat in our neighborhood. Sometimes none. I do buy a small amount of candy - just in case - but it has to be something we adults like.
I don't do much decorating either. I did hang this "flag" on the front porch. I made it using a strip of muslin and some fabric markers.
The Fourth Street shopping area always has a fun street event on this day. We plan to walk down there this afternoon, get a cup of coffee and sit on one of the many benches and people watch.
Right now though, I'm going to visit Elizabeth and the rest of the tea gang over at Altered Book Lover. Won't you join me?
Good morning, I have never lived any where with trick or treaters-we always lived rural or as a kid we lived on a street with no one coming to visit-I remember my Dad really missed that-he loved halloween.
ReplyDeletePeople watching sounds fun-enjoy! Happy T Day Kathy
Our trick or treat eve is the last Friday before Halloween day but we no longer get kids down our street so I stopped. I used to buy what we liked too:) Sounds like a fun day out-oh, and I love those adorable owls! Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteOOooo love that owl! The only time i've had trick or treaters was the three years i lived in CA .. lived in a housing development in Lathrop and we had lots of kiddies.. so much fun.. I miss it but i wouldn't give up my country life for it.. :) Happy T day Darla! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteLove your Halloween flag, and your special breakfast treat looks great. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had trick-or-treaters for years, but we buy candy anyway ;) I like your seasonal flag. I like it when homes and shops put out seasonal decorations :)
ReplyDeleteHappy T Tuesday
Your flag banner is fabulous! I love the designs you created with the fabric markers - amazing ๐. Mmm, tea and Hershey bars! I'm not sure there would be any left for trick and treaters if they were sat by my tea mug ...lol ๐. The Trick or Treat event looks wonderful and the snowy owl window display is beautiful, loving that green pumpkin too! Have fun people watching while your having a coffee - Happy Halloween and T Day wishes! J ๐
ReplyDeleteI love your flag and your drawing skills. Simply wonderful. You certainly make it look easy, but I know it isn't.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a green pumpkin, but turquoise pumpkins are becoming the rage because people are offering non-food items at homes with a turquoise one. Seems lots of kids are now being born with food allergies. I've given pencils and glow sticks in the past and the kids seemed happy to get them.
Chocolate and tea for breakfast? I'd be wired for days, I fear. Thanks for sharing these wonderful goodies with us for T this Tuesday.
BTW, be sure to check out Kate. She's a fellow knitter at times, it seems.
We don't get many trick-or-treaters either, Darla. So I do like you - a few pieces of candy that hubby and I like. If we get more kids than the candy serves, I throw some of my breakfast protein bars in the basket - lol.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-Day! Hugs, Eileen
We haven't gotten any trick or treaters for several years. I live in a rural area and even though I live on one of the main roads through town, there are no sidewalks and street lights are sparse. I did buy some candy just in case the New Girl across the street brings her little girl. My guess is no. But I'm ready. Reese Cups for Himself and the girlies. Almond Joy and Hershey Kisses for me. I think there are some Hershey Bars, too, but not a pretty place mat. Have fun at Fourth St. Happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteIts a lovely Halloween flag. We don't get the children calling either. The parents seem to arrange small parties for their children, which seems a good idea.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoyed your visit to the street event.
Happy T day wishes.
Yvonne xx
You have to buy candy that you like, otherwise it would be a waste, wouldn't it? I don't get trick or treaters either, but like you, a get a little candy so I can treat myself too. :) Happy T day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI love your little flag Darla, your own original piece of Halloween. We are surprised to see how much Halloween has caught on in Australia. About ten groups of costumed and very polite children came to our door, and we had a small supply of treats for them. And our local shopping centre had an event too, I think that is a first.
ReplyDeleteYour welcoming flag is brilliant! That window looks very tastefully decorated - we seem to get very garish displays from those shops that do make a bit of an effort! A very belated Happy T Day! Chrisx
