Tea Stands for Tuesday 4/30/19

Good morning on this last Tuesday of the month.  I hope everything is well in your world.

I'm still in the process of knitting this wrap.  I think I'm about 3/4 finished. The tea I'm drinking this morning is only sitting next to the knitting for the picture.  I normally keep to two very far apart as I view it as an accident waiting to happen.

On another note, I spotted this bunch of succulents while I was out walking.

Aren't thy amazing?   I've never seen the bright yellow blossoms before.  Anyone know the name of the plant?  One of the benefits of taking a walk is spotting things you might barely notice otherwise.

Time to visit Elizabeth's blog and "notice" what my friends there are doing.

Tea Stands for Tuesday - 4/23/19

I am squeaking in this Tuesday morning.  Wasn't sure I'd make it.  So many of our days are spent at the river this time of year and there is no internet connection there.  I hate to miss a Tuesday with Elizabeth and everyone though.

I'm drinking coffee this morning but this is the tea I'll be drinking later.  I sometimes like a change.

You may remember I painted a box earlier this month in preparation for making a mixed media assemblage.

Here is where I am with it.  Nothing is glued down.  I have many other bits and pieces to add.  That is a paper napkin in the background.

This is the very early stage of the outside.  The first coat of the box was yellow, then a light pink, then a wash of antique white.  I plan to sand the outside giving it an aged look and hopefully some of those layers will show through.

The box is at the River House and I'm by the Bay so who knows when I will be able to work on it again.  That's ok.  Things will be good and dry.

Be sure to visit Elizabeth's blog.  Bring a drink and show us what you have been doing.

Tea Stands for Tuesday 4/16/19

I've been at the river house quite a bit lately.  Pushing spring.  It is pushing back.  After some sun, it rained today.

I have a number of ideas for creative things I'd like to do.  Some are just sparks of thought but others have more of a plan in place.  I decided I'd better write myself some notes.  Nothing like a cup of tea to get me in the mood.

A friend who is an artist came to visit.  She harvested the last of our oranges, I was happy to share.  The day was beautiful and we were
able to sit on the levee and discuss plans for making art.  She's lovely and colorful herself.

Speaking of colorful.  I once said "never!" to these shoes.  Never, never, never.  I finally gave in and bought a pair.  They are perfect for mucking around outside.  They are surprisingly comfortable.

That's me caught up.  Get on over to Elizabeth's blog and catch up with the rest of the group that gathers there.

Monday Morning

There's something about a Monday morning, even though I'm retired.   Hope your week is starting off well.

Here is a Monday collage.  Torn pages and bits of paper glued to cardboard.   The quote is brom Vincent Van Gogh.  "There is no blue without yellow and orange"

Tea Stands for Tuesday 4/9/19

The weather is warming up a bit.  My studio area has no heat so I don't spend a lot of time there in the winter.  It is a pleasure to be out there once again.

This is the beginning of... something.  I'm recycling a wooden box, starting by painting it.   I know it is going to be a shadow box kind of assemblage.  I have the idea, I have some bits and pieces set aside for the interior construction.  At this point though it is just me painting the box  (And drinking my water, LOL!)  Layers of paper will go on next I think.

I really want to get to what I consider the fun stuff.  The setting up of the pieces.

You should join me for tea at Elizabeth's blog.  I'll bet her party guests will have some finished things to show you.

Tea Stands for Tuesday and Second on the Second - 4/2/19

Time for tea on the 2nd day of the month where we are encouraged to bring back a post for a second look.  Elizabeth posts lots of recycling/reusing ideas during April so I though I would share a previous tea post with that in mind.

Tea stands for Tuesday - 5/13/14

Time for a little show and tell on this T stands for Tuesday.  As you can see I'm drinking coffee not tea but that meets the guidelines Elizabeth has set out for us on her blog.

We have several old dictionaries so I set one aside for altered art projects.  I've used many, many pages and even shared pages with creative friends.  This time I simply tore out a page and covered with watercolor in a random way.  I decided to make a couple of post cards.

I used heavy mixed media paper for the post card and watercolor on the background of each of these.

Circles were torn from the painted dictionary page and glued on.  A few marks with a pen finished the postcards.

I'm not really pleased with the writing on the cards.  It looks a little wobbly to me.  As you all know though when you use a Sharpie to write or draw, what's done is done.

Hope you have a great Tuesday and be sure to visit our hostessElizabeth's blog to see what the rest of the group is sharing this week.

I'm also linking up with Jenn's Artist's Play Room this week.  Share the art!
