Tea Stands for Tuesday 2/5/19

I'm showing up for the tea party at Elizabeth's this morning and hope to connect with my friends there.  I've had a worrisome couple of weeks but things are beginning to level out.

Times like this it is nice to have the old reliable coffee pot on hand,  We've gone through several Melita coffee pots over the years.  Used it long before the phrase "pour over coffee" was around.

Knitting is my go to when life is not as I would like it to be.  I made this baby blanket just in time to take it to a baby shower.  I'll tell you a little secret.  It was easy-peasy.  I used self striping yarn by Hayfield.  I find self striping yarn entertaining as I see what each section is going to reveal.

I believe there will be some interesting things going on at the tea party so I'm headed there next.

  1. Sorry that you've had a worrisome few weeks, I hope things get back to normal soon for you! Your baby blanket is amazing and I have never heard of self striping yarn, that is so clever 😀. It's so beautiful and I bet the recipients loved it too! Take care and Happy T Day! J 😊 x

  2. Your baby blanket turned out beautiful, I'm sure was more than well pleased with it.
Sorry to hear you have had some worries on your mind. I think it is the nature of a woman to worry, even though we try not to.
Hope your week is much better and less worrisome.
    Happy T-day

  3. Your past couple of weeks sound like mine, Darla. I hope all is quite better now. I don't understand the self striping, since you wouldn't know when the stripes begin and end, but yours seem to have worked out perfectly. It is beautiful.

I have one of those old Melita coffee pots, but have never used it. I know you and Divers and Sundry both rave over the pour over coffee, but I can't seem to get into it. Glad yours is working perfectly. BTW, I have lots of filters I'm now using in my art!

Thanks for sharing the baby blanket and your Melita with us for T this Tuesday.

  5. Sorry you've had a worrisome couple of weeks and hope things continue to smooth out, Darla. I wouldn't have known you didn't create that lovely striping on the baby blanket if you hadn't spilled the beans (grin).

    Happy T-day! Eileen xx

  6. Awe, I do hope everything continues to be much better for you. I've never used a coffee pot like this one but i bet it makes a good brew. Your baby blanket is so beautiful!! It looks like tiny roses in the white. Happy T day!

  7. Sorry to hear that things need to improve, and I hope they do.I don't drink coffee but I find this pot interesting. I grew up with parents who loved their electric coffee pot, and they trained us early to make the coffee in the morning for them. But this one looks so much more European. I don't know if it is or isn't. And I love the blanket. Knitting is such a great thing to do, isn't it? Happy T day, a little late. Hugs-Erika

  8. How amazing Darla, that the one yarn can make a stripe design with tiny roses. It is gorgeous! I am sure the lucky recipient was thrilled.
So sorry you have had things on your mind - often post-Christmas seems to get like that for me too. Hope things are on the mend soon.

  11. I hope things continue to be less worrisome for you. I'm sorry it's been hard lately :(

I don't knit and have never heard of self striping yarn, but the blanket is lovely :)

We have a single cup pour-over and love it. Most of the time all I want is one cup. I didn't realize they made them as large as yours. My husband has one of the Chemex pour overs, but I can't remember the last time he used it. Happy late T Day

  12. I'm sorry you had some a worrisome time. I hope things have calmed down a bit and life can go back to 'normal'.
Yes, I had a melita coffee system too, as most of us did in the 70s. You just boil the kettle and every now and then pour the water on the coffee. Afterwards the dregs were emptied down the sink because people said it would clean the pipes. (don't know if it was true...)
Wow that blanket is gorgeous. I didn't know the self striping yarn could be so effective. Do you have to start it at a certain point to get that effect?
    Happy (belated) T-Day,
    Lisca

  14. A gorgeous blanket. I love knitting baby blankets but I have never tried a pattern with various colored yarns. I want too but I don't have the confidence. Well done!
    Happy Belated Tea Day,

  15. That baby blanket is super cute! Knitting is my go-to no matter what. Something is missing in my day if I don't knit at least a few rows.
