"You are not copying nature, but responding to nature in full awareness, to the way nature expresses itself in that object." (Frederick Franck)
The book made me want to take a sketchbook outside and begin.
Hi Darla, I think this is definitely a book I would enjoy reading. I am happy to see you blogging again and will read your new blog from the beginning as soon as I have time. Happy Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great book to me. I don't draw but I do think making photos also makes us more aware of our surroundings. I;ll have to see if I can find this book.
ReplyDeleteThe book sounds great. Enjoy your time on the couch, and happy T day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteWith what you have went through this sounds like a perfect book for you to be reading right now.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the T-day visit and the comment, glad you like to hear about the GDs!!
The quotes alone have drawn me in so I know I'd like this book! Will see if I can find it maybe at the library first. Thanks for sharing the inspiration and happy T day!
ReplyDeletelove the quote and sketch
ReplyDeleteI love "not copying nature, but responding". It's much less intimidating and more freeing. Thx!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing Darla.
ReplyDeleteThe book does sound inspiring and special.
It made me think how photography also helps my gift of sight.
Happy T Day

Seems to be an interesting book! Thank you for sharing Darla!
ReplyDeleteHappy T-Day!
I would love to read that book, but unfortunately it is not on Kindle. However, browsing after it, I found some other stuff I want to read... books are like spider´s web and I´m a fly! lol Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteThat looks really interesting. (And he's a Dutchman too!)
ReplyDeleteSo glad you wanted to go out and sketch Darla - it is good when the creative instinct can kick in. That book looks interesting; I love reading about artists!
ReplyDeleteThat does look interesting - I'll look him up tomorrow -bedtime now! Happy T day! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteSorry I am so late visiting. I didn't think I'd be THIS late, though. Your mug looks like several Sally has. She uses hers for water, though.
ReplyDeleteThe book sounds interesting, and I'm sure it would be something many would love. However, since I don't sketch, draw, or paint (other than throwing it on a page), I'm not sure how much I'd get from it, except a good read.
Thanks for sharing it and your thermos with us for T this Tuesday.
That sounds like a good book. I think that my high school art teacher would approve. He was always saying, "Draw what you see. Not what you think you see. Not what you want to see. Draw what you really see." I still remember his words after all these years. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you're having a good T Day! :)
I just downsized that book before I moved...along with stacks of other books. It's a good book. Yes, makes one want to sketch and draw whatever is around you. :)
ReplyDeleteLove that you have a thermal mug, too! Life has shifted. Take the time to settle into it. love and hugs. Happy T-Day!
oh that book does sound interesting...indeed one does get 'into the zone' when drawing! and books with very many illustrations seem to be rare these days...thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have taken the sketchbook out. Nothing like sketching to clear the mind.
ReplyDeleteOh ! I'll have to find the book and give it a read :) Thanks for sharing. !!!
