October sky

Do you notice how the light changes in October?  At some times of the day it seems to tint everything with a golden glow.  We get some pretty sunsets.

Here is one taken from our sunroom last night.  Never mind the screen.  I don't know why I didn't walk outside to take the photo.

The garden is looking pretty straggly.  DH is slowly cleaning it out, piling the left overs in the compost pile.  CA still has no rain but I know other parts of the country are flooding.

What is going on in your world this mid-October?

  1. We don't have much in the way of cool weather or fall leaf color, but some color is changing and the days are definitely shorter. What a beautiful time of year!

  2. DITTO here! We are having our last heat wave (I hope) then the temps. should start staying low. Just waiting for El Nino to show up. It will kill our trucking, and most likely make me want to shoot the DH.............LOL

  3. We got rain, strong winds (and subsequent 4 hr power outage) and then next day...sunny. We have had a lot of blow-down from the dead fronds of the cedar boughs that was shaken out of the trees during the winds, so we raked and leaf-blew the driveway and garage apron clear. The leaves are turning and nights are getting cooler. Everything in our garden is done except the zucchinis. it'll take a frost to stop them from producing. You gotta love their persistence.

  4. Apologizing my late approach to your new blog. And congratulations!

The sky looks unreal with it´s different colors. I would not be able to tell if it is morning or night.
The draught there and then the floods elsewhere is not fair. But then, life isn´t..
Wishing You and your new blog all my best!/ mette

  5. My favorite time of the year! Cool nights, beautiful skies, temps in the mid-60s/low 70s.... Today, I'm going to pick up some of the few walnuts that fell in our lawn this year so hubby can mow. I've also put some pork chops, green beans & potatoes in the crock pot to cook and enjoy later...

  6. The skis have gone that deep, brilliant blue that they turn in October. Trees are turning. And Orion is back in the night sky!

  7. That sky is so pretty, it should be reproduced in silk fabric, Darla! I too take some photos through the screen, then ask myself why. Did it yesterday to try to capture a jacaranda tree in the distance. Here the weather is turning to Summer, a couple of days in the mid-30s, too hot for me. Today a little shower of rain - our gardens are parched too.

  8. I like the effect the screen gives here, Darla. I wouldn't want to see it in every photo but I think it works here. Yes, I LOVE autumn light!
