Tea Stands for Tuesday - 1/30/18

Today my tea party contribution is about roses.  I seem to have developed a fondness for the image of a rose.

A recent lucky find at the thrift shop.  The two pieces were on  different shelves marked 75 cents each.  I now have a lovely cup and saucer for the grand sum of $1.50.

I thought I'd show you some things I've created using the rose as inspiration.  You may have seen some of them before.

A card with a rose done in colored pencil.

This is a rose stencil that I drew and cut myself.  I used it on a lampshade that is in my bedroom.

This is a night light I made using a glass bowl, parts of artificial flowers and a battery operated tea light.  That's in the bedroom as well.

Now it is time to join everyone for tea at the Altered Book Lover blog.  Maybe we will find some more roses there.

Tea Stands for Tuesday - 1/23/18

Happy Tea Tuesday.  Hope everyone is keeping warm and dry.  I went walking yesterday morning.

The first thing I spotted going out the door was our lemon tree.  It is a Meyer lemon and as you can see it is doing well this year.  I need to pick lemons and make lemon bars.

My walk took me to Whole Foods to pick up a loaf of bread.  I like their bakery and early in the morning everything is fresh and warm.  In one aisle I spotted these tea cups.  Very Tea Tuesday.  At $15.49 each none of them came home with me.  Yes, nice graphics on the cups and boxes but... really?  So I'm drinking my coffee in my ordinary white cup this morning.

I'm off to visit the Altered Book Lover blog and find out what my friends there have been doing.  Click the link and you can join me.

Tea Stands for Tuesday 1/16/18

Trying to post from my phone.
I don't seem able to add a picture of my tea.
Nor can I add link to Elizabeth blog

This cowl is long so it can double up.  The pattern uses a slip stitch and was available free on the Purl Soho site.  It was really easy once I got going.  The yarn was soft and the whole project was enjoyable.

The top section in the above picture is the "wrong" side of the knitting, the lower section is the "right" side.  I like both sides and that's important to me when knitting a scarf.

Second on the Second - 1/2/18

Good morning friends.  I'm missing Tea Stands for Tuesday and doing the Second on the Second instead.  You can find out more about both at the Altered Art Lovers blog.  There is always something interesting there.

You can see these were created nearly 6 years ago.  I came across the post when looking for a quote to use on a card.  I didn't choose one of these but I got a chuckle out of them.  I don't think the site that had the challenges exists any longer.  Enjoy!

Artist's Play Room 8/1/12

This time Jenn at the Artist's Play Room has challenged us to do a SERIES.  I decided to do a series of Sketchy Ladies with quotes.

3x5 cards, pen, paper scraps. dabs of glue

Here they are individually so you can read the quote written on each one.

I don't remember where I got this list of quotes, I just found them to be amusing.  Sorry the pictures have shadows, unless I can go outside in the full sun I don't seem to be able to take photo's without this happening.
