Tea Stands for Tuesday - 1/31/23

I am glad to see the end of January, how about you?  It is sunny here today but cold. Warning, this is going to be a longer post than my usual.

I spent some time working on a little book project.  I don't have access to my studio (other house) so I was limited to the few supplies I had on hand.  That was fine because my intention was to use as little purchased material as possible.

I started it all with a brown paper bag from Peet's Coffee along with another mug from my Nana Collection,

I had an idea in mind and I just went along doing one thing then another.  I'm calling this a prototype.  If I make another one the process will be much quicker.  I didn't work in the most efficient order on this one.  Here are the pages, hopefully in order.

The quote I used is hard to really read in the photos so here it is:

I think that's a wrap for me today,  Please visit Elizabeth and freinds to enjoy other posts.

Tea Stands for Tuesday - 1/24/23

Hello, once again we have an invitation to Tea with Elizabeth and the party folks.  All you need to do is bring along a drink reference.  First, I'm going to contribute a book suggetion today.

I will admit up front that I am a fan of Kate Atkinson's writing. This book did not disappoint. I truly felt transported to another era while the rain pounded outside my window.

Here is good description from Goodreads.

Shrines of Gaiety

Set in 1926, and in a country still recovering from the Great War, London has become the focus for a delirious new nightlife. In the clubs of Soho, peers of the realm rub shoulders with starlets, foreign dignitaries with gangsters, and girls sell dances for a shilling a time.

Reading about that era put me in the mood for a martini. Will you have one olive or two?

Tea Stands for Tuesday - 1/17/22

The Bay Area is still pretty soggy but the sun is breaking through today which gives me hope.  I think Wendesday is going to give us a little more rain but after that we are looking at a good streak of dry days.  I'm ready for that.

"We're made of star stuff" Carl Sagan

This is a card I made for my adult Grandddaughters birthday.  We both share an interest in the study of space and Carl Sagan's work.  I couldn't get a great photo since there was such poor natural light.  The background square is a gelli print and the drawing/writing is done with Poska pens.

Today I'm trying to dye some papers with beet juice made from leftover beet skins.

Here you see some regular copy paper drying.  I'm drinking my tea in a cup said granddaughter sent me some time ago.  I really like the color of the paper although it will probably lighten as it gets dry.  I did try a sheet of caligraphy paper which turned to mush almost immediately as it got wet.  Always something new to learn.

Please join me and visit our Tea Party Hostes here.  There are some great people posting there.

Tea Stands for Tuesday 1/10/23

 il pleut et pleut

(pen and ink sketch)

Good Morning friends.  I thought perhaps the fact of our on going rain would sound better in French.  I"m certainly tired of it in any language.

That said,

I'm going to take my umbrella and go join the Tea Party at Elixabeth's .  Hope to see you there.

Tea Stands for Tuesday 1/3/23

Hello and wishing you a happy start to a new year.

This is my ticket to the Tea Party.  Its the front of a purple tee shirt my daughter gave me for Christmas.  I think she hit the nail on the head as is often said.

We are having a deluge.  Record setting rains all over NoCA.  We always need rain but we don't need it all at once.  Some areas have had to evacuate, some are without power.

I am working on a small book.  I will show you what I have so far.

Here is the inside of the cover.  The folded brown paper pages will be sewn inside.

A closer view.  Paper bits and a photocopy of an old document.

Time to visit our party hostess here.
