Happy Halloween 2018

Happy Halloween to those who celebrate.

Catechism for a Witch’s Child

When they ask to see your gods

your book of prayers

show them lines

drawn delicately with veins

on the underside of a bird’s wing

tell them you believe

in giant sycamores mottled

and stark against a winter sky

and in nights so frozen

stars crack open spilling

streams of molten ice to earth

and tell them how you drink

a holy wine of honeysuckle

on a warm spring day

and of the softness

of your mother who never taught you

death was life’s reward

but who believed in the earth

and the sun

and a million, million light years

of being

Tea Stands for Tuesday 10/30/18

Good morning.  As we gather for tea at Elizabeth's this morning, I so wish it could be in person.  Do you ever feel that way?

Mighty Leaf Tea
Chamomile Citrus

Sorry for the rather blurry picture.  Most of you know I get my coffee at Peets but did you know I also like their tea selection?  On my last visit I brought home their Chamomile Citrus tea in the loose leaf version.  That's what I'm having this morning.  You can also get their tea in teabags of course.

Butternut Squash and Kale

This was dinner last night.  I don't watch much television but I do like a few of the cooking shows.  The recipe for this comes from The Pioneer Woman Cooks show.  Easy and tastes like Autumn. Are there any other fans of her show out there?  It probably isn't available outside the U.S. but I'm not sure.

Hope everyone who celebrates is ready for a Happy and Safe Halloween tomorrow.

Dangerous Pockets Project

I plan to join this art collaboration. I'll be muddling up some ideas. Information is on Facebook and I know some folks don't use Facebook but if you do, check it out.

In any case, be sure to read the poem at the bottom of this page.

Dangerous Coats

Someone clever once said

Women were not allowed pockets

In case they carried leaflets

To spread sedition

Which means unrest

To you and me

A grandiose word

For commonsense

Fairness

Kindness

Equality

So ladies, start sewing

Dangerous coats

Made of pockets & sedition

Tea Stands for Tuesday - 10/23/18

October is such a beautiful month in Northern California.  We continue to spend quite a bit of our time at the river.

This fine hen appeared in our yard over a week ago.  Our yard is fenced and we have no idea where she came from.  She's laid four eggs during her visit though.  She likes to come right up on the front porch and chat with us.

I've been trying different teas.  Mostly using what I have on hand.
Have you tried any of these teas for the condition described?

Thing morning I added peppermint leaves to some standard black tea.  Guess I must have been feeling "sluggish", LOL!

I'm off to join the group for tea at Altered Book Lover this morning. Won't you join me?

Knitted scarf

I'm attempting to finish some knitting projects and get pictures posted.  This is a scarf I knitted for DH.  It is wonderfully soft and squishy.  Perfect for fall weather.

Tea Stands for Tuesday 10/9/18

I am late to the tea party at Elizabeth's this morning.  Still, I want to drop in and say hello to all my friends there and see what they are doing these days.

Meal Ticket

One of our favorite places for breakfast is closing.  We had to have one more meal there before they shut the doors.  The space will reopen as a bar-b-que place.  I doubt we will be customers.

\

Since I missed taking a drink picture with my meal, I'll give you a look at my desk this morning,

Along with Tea on Tuesday, it is the morning my informal knitting group meets.  I am ready to tackle a new project.  I have something in mind but I'll see where the patterns and yarn take me when I get to my yarn store.

Hope everyone is having a happy and productive Tuesday.
