There's a dear little plant that grows in our isle,
'Twas St Patrick himself, sure, that set it;
And the sun on his labor with pleasure did smile,
And with dew from his eye often wet it.
It thrives through the bog, through the brake, and the mireland;
And he called it the dear little shamrock of Ireland...

Oh Darla, I had forgotten this one! So lovely to be reminded - I remember a tune as well with a chorus about the ‘dear little shamrock’. Happy st Patrick’s Day.
ReplyDeleteI am late but hope it was a good one. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard this poem, Darla. thanks for sharing. And a Happy St. Paddy's Day to you (a day late)
ReplyDeleteI'm not familiar with this sweet poem. I'm sorry I missed it on the day but will save it for next year. Thx!
ReplyDeleteI'm back and will play catch-up as best I can. This has been a very trying time being without internet, but I HOPE this has been the cure. I'll explain on Wednesday, because it's too convoluted to explain here. I'm sorry I missed this post and lovely poem. Your shamrock is beautiful, too. Happy belated St. Patrick's Day, dear Darla.
