Hello my Tuesday Tea friends. I'm happy to be able to check in at Elizabeth's blog today and catch up on everyone's news.
March can be such an uncertain month, The weather changes from day to day (or faster). This is the week we changed the clocks which confuses me for a few days. Lately, I have been turning off the screens and seeking out a little peace and quiet.
I enjoy working on a good old fashioned jigsaw puzzle. This puzzle is smaller (300 pieces) with larger pieces than what I usually do. I found it at a thrift store for $1.15. I'm hoping all the pieces are there. Have you seen the prices of puzzles lately? Eek!
With my cup of tea and some fancy chocolate cookies (those tubes in the glass) I can have a lovely time. Right now we are still "sheltering" so we don't have company but in years past I found working puzzles with someone often led to some wonderful conversations.
Here is a little trivia for you. A person who enjoys assembling jigsaw puzzles is called a dissectologist. Do you ever work jigsaw puzzles?
I really LOVE the vignette you created Darla. This is beautiful and I look forward to seeing how well the puzzle matches the image on the front of the box. You are certainly all set to create with your tea and chocolates. I also hope all the pieces are there. Thanks for sharing your puzzle, chocolates, and tea with us for T this Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question, I haven't put a puzzle together in years. I used to enjoy them, but now I find them frustrating and time consuming. My frustration levels have obviously changed (grin).
Hello Darla, great to see you today. Those chocolate treats look tempting and delicious. I occasionally do a jigsaw, but my sister really loves them. I must tell her she is a dissectologist. They have become expensive, I know, because I was looking to buy her one :)
ReplyDeleteI do like to do puzzles. Happy week!
ReplyDeleteWe love puzzles at our house too, and most of ours come from yard sales and thrift stores as well. I would say 90% of the time we have all the pieces and $1 is much better then $15-$20! Enjoy ~
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a pretty puzzle. My hubby like to do them but if they are really complicated, I find them frustrating. I guess for me that takes out the calm and relaxing element.
ReplyDeleteThat sure is a great deal at the thrift shop. But yes, missing pieces can be a problem. We know from experience. I hope you get it all together. Enjoy your cool looking chocolates.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
I think the puzzles have been quite popular because of the pandemic and prices have risen accordingly. We'll hope your puzzle has all its pieces, because at that price it's a real find!
ReplyDeleteI love your mug, and that milk glass piece is the perfect way to have those chocolate treats. Happy T Tuesday!
Thanks for the new word. I have looked at puzzles lately, that is if you can find a good selection. I think they are just starting to fill the shelves again. I hope you have all your pieces and a wonderful T day too.
ReplyDeleteThis time change- I'm with you. Hugs-Erika
You seem to have found a great way to survive the lockdown! My granddaughter was working puzzles over the December-January break, and I sent her one as a gift -- as you say, the prices have gone up in a rather amazing way.

Hi Darla. Yes, at the moment we have a jigsaw puzzle set up in the basement. It was a Christmas present from our the kids. It's of New York city and it's a real challenge with all the windows in all the buildings with only, so far, Central park and the outer edge being complete. Our puzzles come from the thrift store or hand-me-overs from one or the other of my sisters. We have a few in line to be next on the table that we leave set up all the time. We've had our two vaccines and as of Sunday are two weeks beyond the last shot so we are doing things cautiously - still masked, still distanced and not often. We had an outing to the zoo with Kim and dinner out at Anthony's Home Port after. it felt as joyous as Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy them but don't have room to leave one up without taking away the leave up art space--LOL! :)
ReplyDeleteA lovely way to work the brain, and have quiet time as well. I do enjoy puzzles but haven't done one in a few years. Dissectologist, hmmm. Funny name for someone who enjoys doing puzzles. Enjoy, and happy T day!
ReplyDeleteI love jigsaw puzzles, such fun! Take care and stay safe 😁. Wishing you a Happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteOhhhh Mr. M. and I have a jig saw going at all times. When we finish one we start a new one. Our doctor said doing jig saw is the best thing to keep your brain strong. Have fun and happy T day.
ReplyDeleteI've never been into jigsaw puzzles although I do them with our GS who loves them, my Mum always had one going, Dad made her a board to do them on so it could be moved from the dining table. She would be cleaning and stop to put a piece in place!

Thanks for providing the word of the day. I love it. I've put puzzles together in the past, but not something I generally do. No place to store the puzzle while it's being assembled. A problem living in a dollhouse. I'll happily munch the fancy cookies and have a cup of tea. Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteWe used to do jigsaw puzzles when our daughter was young lived with us. So fun. Happy T Day
