Tea Stands for Tuesday - 12/8/2020

Every Holiday Season I pull out my set of red glass dishes.  I'm drinking my coffee in a red glass cup this morning.

The dishes were originally my Mom's.  They are marked on the bottom  "Arcoroc, France. " I think she got them sometime in the 50's.   I know they went with her from house to house over the years.  She had more expensive china and even prettier cups but she liked her coffee in a red glass cup.

Do you have a favorite cup or some dishes passed down through the family?

Join me at the Tea Stands for Tuesday party on Elizabeth's blog.  We are sure to see some pretty cups there.

  1. I have two teacups that were given to me by the mother (dear friend) of my high school friend and fellow Girl Scout troop member. They came from her east coast family and had originally come from England. The man's cup is larger than the woman's (hers is demitasse size). She told me that they were hand painted. They bring back memories of good times spent with both my friend and her mother.

  4. I really like these red dishes. How cool that they are from your Mom. What a nice holiday memory. My mom had some dishes I wanted, but they didn't end up with me. That's a big frown, but then again, they are only dishes. Have a wonderful T day. Hugs-Erika

  6. So glad you shared this beauty with us for T Darla. Your memories of your mother and her drinking from this cup is priceless. I feel the same about my Grandmother's Old Curiosity Shop service. How beautiful. I have a couple of red glasses, but they don't begin to compare to this beauty. Thanks for sharing your coffee in this lovely cup and saucer with us for T this Tuesday, dear friend.

  7. I'd love a red glass set like this, and I love how the plaid table cloth shows through the plate- I almost thought it was part of the plate and cup pattern:) Happy T day!

  11. Lovely red glass cup and so is its history. I don't have any dishes that were passed down to me. But I have my mother's silverware with the original brochure from when she bought it. $120 US for service for 12 plus serving spoons and gravy ladle. It's silverplate. The picture on the brochure looks like 1950s.

Happy T-day! Stay safe and well. Hugs, Eileen

  12. That colour red is lovely. I have some Arcoroc stuff (tall glasses) but they are brownish/orangy. Not half as nice as your red cup. I love it!
I don't have anything yet passed down to me as my mum is still alive. She has promised me a coffee set. (goodness knows what I am going to do with it!)and my sister is having the tea set.
    Have a lovely weekend,
    Hugs,
    Lisca
