August flowers

Have you noticed the days getting shorter?  I notice it in the morning since I'm an early riser.  Well, it is the middle of August after all.

I have a bouquet of "Naked Lady" lilies on the dining table.  They grow pretty much everywhere in our neighborhood.  Sometimes I think they grow best where neglected.  We have a patch of them along the back fence.  A nice bit of color.

How is your garden this August?

  1. Our garden has been neglected for the most part. We have a few half barrel planters on the deck which have herbs and sweet peas in them. Two other planters have cherry tomato plants and that's about it. The lawn has been mowed, the thistles have been uprooted, but otherwise we have had other things that took priority (Kim's care after cancer diagnosis)

  2. The naked lady lilies are gorgeous. My garden needs massive weeding but we've had so much rain and humidity. And as soon as it is nice enough to go garden I have an appointment and don't get to it. One of these days. Hope all is well. Hugs-Erika

  3. Your naked ladies/surprise lilies are lovely. Mine have all bloomed and died already. I never think to cut and bring mine inside. The only thing growing now are a few herbs in pots that I haven't managed to kill this year.

  4. Those surprise lilies look pretty in a vase :) My patio is looking more like fall than summertime. With this dry heat my watering just can't keep up. The plants would do better with rain from Mother Nature. We're still getting birds and butterflies, though, and that's the important thing :)

  5. Pretty flowers. My veggie garden is still doing well. The perennials that I planted in the spring are adapting to their new home.

  6. Well, we notice the days are getting longer - opposite hemisphere! Soon we can look forward to changes of season. Your pink lilies are beautiful, would love those in our garden. Meanwhile, we have lots of pretty pansies, the iris are going well, and this week we had one daffodil :)

  7. Your lillies look amazing, so pretty! It's always nice to bring flowers indoors from the garden and our everlasting sweetpeas have done really well this year, probably because hubby is looking after them ...lol 😉. Our new flowers beds seem to be thriving and we have seen lots of bees and butterflies visiting too. Happy Sunday! J 😊 x
