Tea Stands for Tuesday 9/6/22

Good morning friends.  If you are here early for tea you may know Monday is Labor Day in the U.S.

I've been retired for some tme but this morning I was thinking back about all the jobs I had.  I was fortunate, I enjoyed them all.

My very first job was as an usherette at this theater.  The street looked a bit different way back then.

My drink for today is....

Because...

Hope everyone is enjoying their day.  You will find me sitting in front of a fan somewhere.  This old house doesn't have A/C as it is very rarely needed.

I posted a watercolor piece in my previous post if you want to see what I have been doing,

Be sure to visit our hostess Elizabeth and all the faithful who join the weekly tea party.  A napkin exchange took place on her blog and it is fun to look through all the pretty designs.

  1. It's been a real hot day - we had 111 F today, and our house doesn't have AC either. We just closed everything off early in the morning and drew the curtains. It was okay for most of the day except late in the afternoon. It's going to be hot for the next few days, but hopefully after that it will cool down again. I'd love to have rain...

  2. Wow, I can't imagine living without an AC unit! Hoping the heat will subside for you very soon - looks like the forcast is a bit better for this week. Fun to think about early jobs, I worked in as a summer program counsellor for kids - all games and athletics which shocks most people that I would have done since I am not an outdoors person or very athletic. Happy T-day and off to check out your art. Hugz ot you, Darla.

  3. I told my friend Sharon, who came to help with the napkin exchange, that I didn't run my whole house AC, but I did the day she was there. She thought I meant I don't like AC, but what I explained was I mostly live in my office in the summer, because I have a window unit there, originally purchased to keep my electronics cool. I have found it is SO much cheaper cost wise to have a window unit to cool one room than it is to use the whole house AC. I can't begin to imagine what I would do if I didn't have AC. I can take the cold, but not the heat. I feel for you and your dilemma. I think instead of drinking it, I would be bathing in that ice (grin).

I remember you telling us you were an usherette once before. I think that would be a fun job if I were a teen. Thanks for sharing your first job, your heat wave, and your glass of much needed ice with us for T this Tuesday, dear Darla.

  4. Here it´s cooled down, sadly.
Yay for great work, I call myself lucky, too - and your painting is great. Oh, I need to try that.
    Happy T-Day.

  5. Do they even have usher(ette)s in movie theaters any more? I haven't seen one in ages -- but I stopped going to movies in March of 2019 (you know why). And I hadn't gone to many for years. I guess everyone can find a seat without help from a teenager with a flashlight now.

  7. It's Autumn here, with a farewell to 100+ degree temps, but I've been seeing reports of how the heat wave continues elsewhere. I hope it eases for you soon.

    Happy T Tuesday!

  9. Wow a dangerous heat warning, we got an extreme weather warning for rain and flooding last weekend, what a strange place we live in. Hope you are able to stay cool and hydrated. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx

  10. Oh, my goodness; my first job was as an usherette in a theatre, also. I remember seeing Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? a couple of dozen times as well as Girls! Girls! Girls! with Elvis singing Return to Sender! LOL Thanks for bringing a smile to my face. Happy t Day.

  11. Oh my, it really is hot there Darla. What fun to work in a theatre and see all the films. I would have liked that too. I worked as a typist in my early years. Nobody has that job now! Stay cool, and I hope Fall comes soon.
