Tea Stands for Tuesday - 10/12/21

(from somewhere on the internet)

Hello Tea Party friends.  The above picture seemed perfect for our Tea Tuesday.  I am so glad Elizabeth continues to hold this get together every week.   Anyone can visit her at Altered Book Lover.

Some time ago I was given a Gelli plate for monoprinting.  The idea has been quite popular but I wasn't really on the bandwagon.   I haven't been creating much art for awhile and I think the person who gifted me thought it would be a nudge to get back at it.

My first try.

Prints done so far.

You can see I tried it on one card.  I think it would be useful for backgrounds in collage work.  I'm not sure where the technique will take me but it was fun to experiment.

If anyone creates Gelli prints I'd love to hear your ideas for creating and using them.

  1. I have never tried working with the gelli prints, but it looks like a very fun technique-I think there are several here on T that give you tips and ideas. Happy T wishes Kathy

  2. I have tried gelli prints a few times, but something about it just doesn't seem to work out for me. I have watched several videos on them, but I don't seem to like the prints regardless. I love everyone else's prints. Yours are fun - especially the leaf and the girl. Lovely cup of flowers you have shared as well. Happy T-day!

  3. Beautiful prints! They can be SO fun, it just takes experimentation to see what you like. I like layering paint through stencils. I have had success with that technique although it has been a while. Did you look up the Gelli print Youtube channel? They have loads of videos on ideas and techniques.
We have all been there- going through a dry spell with our art. I hope you find what you need to re-ignite that spark of creativity. Have fun playing around with the Gelli plates.
    Happy Tea Day,

  4. Just have fun with it. It's only paper, as they say. They're fun! :)

  5. Lovely T Day image Darla. I love my gelli plate!! If you look on the side bar of my blog one of my most popular blog posts is what to do with gelli print papers. Perhaps that will help. I love printing on envelopes to use to send out happy mail. Birgit Koopsen has tons of how to videos on printing. Just go to the Gelli Plate blog and you can find a link there:) Happy printing, and happy T day!

  6. I have a geli plate and have made some good prints to use for card BGs or collage, I use stencils and paint, there’s some great videos to watch on YouTube
    Happy T Day

  7. Hi Darla, I love my gel plate/s (I have a few in different sizes) my favourite things to do with them are image transfers and mixed media layers, and things with tape always turn out well too. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx

  8. Such a pretty teacup. Your gelli prints are wonderful and would make nice elements for cards.

  9. I am late visiting because my electricity was out from shortly before 5:00 p.m. last night for around 19 hours. My apologies if you think I had forgotten or was ignoring you.

I love that beautiful teacup. It is really stunning.

I own a gelli plate and HATE it. It takes forever to set up everything needed to create something, then the prints never turn out well. With my long fingernails, it's hard, even with gloves on to not worry I will nick the plate. Personally, I think you did a great job with yours, especially for the first time. I love the leaf, especially. I also like the face.

Thanks for sharing that teacup and your gelli prints with us for T this Tuesday, dear Darla. I wish you luck with the gelli. You did a MUCH better job on your first attempt than I did.

  10. That is such a pretty tea cup and flower arrangement. Perfect for T Darla. I like your gelli prints. They came out fantastic. I hope you had a wonderful T day. Hugs-Erika

  11. I like your gelli prints. I love to use my gelli plate, I just don't do it often enough. Some papers turn out so pretty that I don't dare to use them anywhere (which is plain stupid), others I use for collage and like that. Some don't turn out at all - it's often hit and miss, but I like to use it anyway. I've watched many of the video tutorials that are available and that has helped. I am far from being a gelli plate expert.

  12. The tea photo is so pretty. I have never done gelli plate art so these look great to me.

  13. What a pretty T centerpiece :)

I've heard of the gelli printing but never tried it.

  14. That's beautiful! Keep experimenting! So far it's really great.
No, I have never tried gelli printing. I was tempted when everyone was doing it, but I never got round to getting one.
Sorry I'm late but as you regulars know, we are away on Tuesday, and today we had a power cut so I'm even later (It's nine pm)
    A belated happy T-Day,
