No surprise, this morning I'm drinking Peets coffee. Here's the set up for grinding the beans. Peets often has a new variety of beans for a limited time and I like to try them. This time it is Ethiopian Super Natural only available for a couple of months. I think these special issues are only for sale in Peets own shops. I'm not sure.
After a very long time, I've taken up paint and brushes again. I have an idea that I want to execute in acrylic on canvas in a larger format. I decided to try a watercolor sketch first.

The above is my first pass at my idea.

I let it dry a bit and then went back in and darkened some areas. I see some changes I will make already but it was enjoyable to put the idea on paper.
Your paintings are gorgeous! I start to smell grinding beans whenever I read about them! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI was watching a special the other day on PBS that talked about different coffees and how they had influenced our tastes in the US. I was surprised to hear the word Peet's, since it's not something I had heard of until you and Divers and Sundry kept mentioning it. We don't get it in Kansas, but it's apparently quite popular in the Bay Area.
ReplyDeleteI have a similar grinder, but I still make 12 cups of coffee at a time, rather than the 4 cup pour over you are using today. I think I would like the dark Ethiopian roast, though. I might have to try that the next time I go to Spice Merchant.
Your watercolor is beautiful. I can see it gracing a wall in your River House. It's a beauty, and I would hang it in my home any day!
Thanks for sharing your beans, grinder, and coffee maker, as well as your lovely watercolor with us for T this Tuesday.
Such a pretty watercolour painting, thanks for sharing the way you built up the colour and detail :-). Grinding your own favourite coffee beans must make for the perfect cuppa too - Happy T Day! J :-)
ReplyDeletebeautiful watercolor. There is just something about cattails that makes me feel happy and nostalgic.
ReplyDeleteHappy T day!
I notice that i like to work in a series... as my one idea often turns into many... Can't wait to see what your lovely watercolor morphs into....Happy T day! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteSo glad your back to painting again, I miss your lovely art work.
ReplyDeleteYes, coffee it is this morning for me too. You would laugh if you could see my coffee grinder that USED to look just like yours. It got used for spices (by DH and Sons) for a BBQ competition and got left a little too close to the fire...LOL! It still works.....just really ugly!
Look forward to seeing that painting go onto a canvas in acrylic. Is it for the "river" house?
Happy T-day
I have come to love Peets Coffee! Lovely watercolor scene. Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteA lovely watercolour. No, I've never heard of Peet's coffee. But it looks good. I can almost smell it.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca.

Ah, Peet! I should really try other blends, but that Italian Roast has me right where I live lol. I haven't checked to see if the stores here carry the limited edition beans. I just pick up my old favorite and keep going. I need to branch out, I can tell. Happy T Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteI can almost smell that coffee! Love your painting and the way you went back to it! It looks wonderful! Happy T day! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful watercolor sketch! I often let the layers dry before adding more paint. as long as I don't scrub at it too much or get it too wet, it works well. keep going! happy T day a bit late!
ReplyDeleteLovely painting Darla!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like we share a similar coffee brewing method.
Freshly ground beans and pour over works nicely.
Happy other T day oxo
