On the second day of every month Elizabeth at Altered Book Lover hosts a party where we bring back an old post for a second look. It is fun to go through some of my old posts. Why don't you join us?
Here's something posted 4 years ago and fun to bring back for a second look today since it is the second day of Dia de los Muertos.

Día de los Muertos
Dia de los Muertos is widely celebrated in the Latin community here. I decided to make a talisman to recognize the day in my own way.
I think if you click on the picture you can enlarge it.
I really enjoy making what I call Rubble Art. Just the usual tin can lid, pull tabs, scrap paper and some beads. I actually found this string of beads in the gutter - maybe it was originally a bracelet. Anyhow, I knew I wanted to use them in some way.
Have you found anything interesting laying in the street lately?
Glad you re-showed this really fun art today! I've never worked with can lids before but am impressed with how evenly you were able to crease them! Have a wonderful day and keep looking down on your walks because these skulls were the perfect find for this piece!
ReplyDeleteLove this, and a great find to use in your art. All I find just now are leaves, acorns and chestnuts. Have a great day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing this before...and it still looks like a very clever idea. ;)) I like the term "rubble art" too and I LOVE the idea that you used found materials!
ReplyDeleteI can proudly say I remember and love this post. I'm with Debbie, and super impressed with how even you got the can lid. You are very versatile and the talisman is perfect for your Second on the 2nd look. Thanks so much for sharing it, dear friend.

I don´t remember this one. It looks interesting and I bet someone would be happy to buy it, if you were in the Etsy group or had a web-shop of your own!
ReplyDeleteI love your rubble art - a really clever way to make a pendant and it looks so cool too! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteHow clever is this, Darla. I have not heard of rubble art, but I like the effect. Great find in the bracelet. I have not heard of the los Muertos, but I guessed it was what we call All Saints Day, November 1, day after Halloween.
