Neighborhood Walk - 2/1/16

It is time to take another walk.  I've actually been walking every day but not taking many pictures.  January brought us much needed rain but left everything looking damp and soggy.

This is a window display in one of the 4th St. shops,  I can't remember which one.  It looked like a very inviting spot to curl up with a good book.

Shops in January were filled with sales.  I thought this was a very wearable looking outfit.  I was just looking though, not shopping.

I walk by this old church quite often.  I go out early so it can be hard to get a bright photo.  The building is now a private residence, curtains in the windows and so forth.  I always wonder what it might be like to live there.  You can tell this is an old neighborhood by that telephone pole that is sticking up there.

Have you been out walking lately?  I know in some parts of the country that would probably involve snow shoes.

  1. We walked a little downtown yesterday and went to an art museum. It was a lovely day here. I have often wondered what it would be like living in an old church or school house.

  2. Now you have me thinking about telephone poles! I'll have to keep an eye out for them (or the lack of!)

  3. Yesterday I walked out on the back patio to watch it pour down rain.....does that count?
The church in the early morning light looks mysterious. We have the old telephone poles in our neighborhood too. Makes it a little more difficult to take photos of the sky from our yard...:((

  4. Must be a strange feeling living in a church with a spire. I guess everyone would be able to recognise your house, though!

  6. I wish chilly weather didn't put me off walking. I feel I need to get out there every day, but I just don't. Wouldn't it be fascinating to live in an old church!

  8. I am addicted to walking, and happily had three good walks last week. However, with current heat wave, no walks for a few days - other than at the Mall :) Lovely jacket in that outfit you show, and I love the architecture of old churches. I could not see myself living in one - although I can't really explain why.

  9. HMMM. Even in the new parts of my town, they still have telephone poles. We've never graduated to underground, because the joke is "what is the state tree of Kansas?" The telephone pole!

Nice outfit, but it would require a certain type person to wear it. I probably could, but I think Sally would not be able to.

Nice spire and good to see that the church found a good second life, because so many are razed these days.

  10. I haven't been out out walking lately but really I should! Either it has been cold and windy or dark and dreary. But also I have been busy attending meetings and finishing a few tasks for volunteer groups that I should have gotten a head start on in early January. It's so easy to procrastinate!

  11. Too cold to do much walking outdoors here yet. I would be so fascinated by that church being turned into a home! Yes--makes you wonder what it looks like inside and how they have altered it. That outfit IS cute and very wearable. Hope you're having a good week. :)
