Time to gather at Elizabeth's for Tea Tuesday. Please join me there, it is a great and friendly group.

It is nearly that "spooky" time of year, Halloween here in the U.S. If I were having a Halloween party I would want someone present who could read tea leaves. I think that would be fun.
In the meantime I have a list of superstitions related to tea.
TEA SUPERSTITIONS
*The lady who puts in milk before sugar will never win a husband.
*Beware pouring from a pot after another lady, as one of you will
have a baby, or possibly red headed twins, before the year is out.
*Tea too strong indicates a new friendship, but tea too weak
promises a friendship will come to an end.
*Bubbles swirling in the cup foretells money or a kiss.
*Never throw used tea leaves away. Bank them at the back of a
fire, to ward off poverty, or throw them in the yard in front of your
door to ward off evil spirits.
*********
Do you have and tea superstitions to add to the list?
Wonderful and fascinating post! The only tea superstition I know is linked to how you make tea and that it's meant to be bad luck if you forget to put the tea into the pot before the boiling water. The other tea fact I can share is that the milk should be poured into the cup before the tea - I think this dates back to fine china teacups, if you added the boiling tea before the milk it was likely to crack and shatter :-). Wishing you a Happy T Day and a mystical tea leaf reading Halloween! J :-)
ReplyDeleteThose superstitions are fun, I don't know any of them - and I never drink tea! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteWow...I've never heard of these. It's so interesting the superstitions that have been passed along through the ages.
ReplyDeleteLoved your interesting post especially the superstitions about tea.
ReplyDeleteI our family the tea always had to be in the cup before milk was added and sugar was and is, a big, 'not allowed in tea'.
Happy T day

Interesting superstitions. Amazing that we live in such a time full of technology that there are still many people who hold on to their superstitions.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-day
That was fun to read about the tea superstitions. In the old days people seriously believed in things like that.
ReplyDeleteI should try to find out about superstitions here in Spain. (when I find out what the word for superstitions is....)
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
great post about tea Darla, and I think a tea reading would be much fun too! Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have a tea reading, even if I know no superstitions. I do know I personally never throw my tea leaves away, but place them in my compost or on my plants. Same with coffee grounds.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these superstitions with us for T this Tuesday. Glad to learn a few superstitions associated with tea, too.

ReplyDeleteIf the tag falls off the teabag while it's in your cup, you will lose something within a week.
I found it online just now...lol!
Happy T-Day Darla!

I have a little book on reading tea leaves, but I almost always use tea bags lol. Palm reading might work better for me ;) No equipment necessary. Happy T Tuesday
ReplyDeleteLove the tea leaf reading friends! I don't know any of those tea sayings but then I don't drink tea - I found that I couldn't tolerate it when I was at Junior school! Have a great week! Hugs, Chrisx
