While at the river I had fresh figs from the garden along with my cup of tea. This is a type of fig that is green in color when ripe. I can't remember what the name of it is. Maybe someone knows.
There are also new blossoms on our entryway arbor. I thought we just had jasmine growing there so this was a pretty surprise.
The garden isn't all fruit and pretty flowers though. Someone has to trim those hedges (in this case jasmine) and rake and bag the trimmings. I'm not a gardener but jasmine vines are pretty forgiving.
Now it is time to visit Elizabeth and the Tuesday Tea gang and find out what everyone has been doing. Come along and join us.
Looks like you've been keeping busy with all the garden work. Nice 'new' china from the thrift shop, too - my collection of thrift shop mugs grows weekly! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeletelovely vignette of vintage dishware. Yes, a garden is work, but so worth it. I can just imagine the sweet soft scent of the jasmine... happy T day!

That's one really colorful tea canister. You are collecting some genuine beauties that will make your river home truly your own.
ReplyDeleteI've got some jasmine, but mine doesn't seem trainable like yours. I'm impressed, though with your gardening skills.
Thanks for sharing about your figs and tea, as well as your new tea canister with us for T this Tuesday.
Your getting some really good, vintage pieces, for your river house. I really like those type of canisters.

I love the scent of Jasmine - lucky you to have enough that it needs trimming! Your china collection looks great especially with those figs!
ReplyDeleteThe entrance fee to Chatsworth House included a self guided tour around the house(there were stewards around to ask questions and each room had a written sheet to read ) and access to walk in the gardens. We paid a modest price for our lunch - £11 each and we also had to pay £4 for the car park. We could have paid extra to visit the farm and to ride in a tractor pulled 'train' around part of the gardens but chose not to - there was enough to see as it was! We were lucky to have had a two for one price but if we hadn't the day would have cost us £65 instead of the £45 we did pay. A lot of the houses we visit (obviously not so grand!) cost around £10 each or, as we are members of The National Trust , for which we paid lifetime membership when we retired, are free! Hope that explains a little for you. Happy T Day! Chrisx
These figs look very tasty and i love the smell of Jasmine... the blossom Looks very delicate and beautiful.
ReplyDeletehappy belated t-day!
One of the fun things about buying a new house and garden - the surprise arrival of pink trumpet blooms. So pretty. As for having figs growing - that would be bliss! They can be $50 per kilo here, and when cheapest, are $2 or $3 each. Your tea caddy is a great find, and looks in excellent condition.
ReplyDeleteLove the bright colors of the china. I love Fiesta Ware and the knock off that you can find too. Makes the table and kitchen so cherry and colorful :) The figs look yummy and the pretty blooms are lovely. Have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteLovely to see some of the paradise you live in Darla.
