Tea Stands for Tuesday - 12/12/17

There is so much going on this time of year.  It is time to take a break, fix your favorite drink and join us for tea with Elizabeth.

Are you wondering if I switched coffee?  Just a temporary drink I guarantee.  Someone went to Hawaii and brought us back a pound of coffee from a coffee estate there.  Nice, smooth, mild.  That doesn't even sound like me and coffee.  Still, a thoughtful gift.

The Meal Ticket

This time of year if you have to go out shopping or, heaven forbid to the post office, then you need a treat.  Mine was a late breakfast at a local favorite called The Meal Ticket.  It is owned by a charming couple, he cooks she waits tables.

Our tangerines are very abundant this year.  I keep hoping they will be ripe by Christmas.  Did you ever receive an orange in the toe of your Christmas stocking?  I didn't.  However, we lived in Oregon and as a small child I remember getting a box of oranges carefully and individually wrapped in tissue from an uncle who lived in "sunny California".  Now I have orange trees myself.  Life is funny.

Hope you have a great day and if you are busy remember to take time for a cup of tea.

  1. We had tangerines in our stockings growing up, even though we lived in Michigan. Must have come from the grocery store.

  2. That breakfast looks way too yummy. I sit in my classroom on a dark morning waiting for kids to arrive and you have made me soooo hungry. Too bad it is only yogurt for lunch.:) Lucky you to have tangerines too. That is cool. Hope it's a wonderful T day. Hugs-Erika

  7. Good memories, I am a senior now, but when I was a child my Mom always told us the story of each child getting an orange in their stocking from her Grandfather-at that time this was a special and rare gift-she always enjoyed that orange every year.
Your Kona coffee is a special gift too and quite expensive. when I could drink coffee in years past we would splurge and buy a pound of this Kona-so smooth and delicious-worth every penny.
Happy T day and thank you for the memories Kathy

  8. I love trying new coffees. That's how we found our current regulars :) Yes, we used to get fruit, including tangerines, in our stockings. I remember the year the fruit was in a bowl on the table instead. It did look prettier there than hidden inside the stocking :) Happy T Tuesday

  9. That looks like fun coffee. Kona is a bit light for my taste, but since it "sounds" exotic, I would gladly try a cup. I even brought some from Florida one year and it was very expensive.

Now I'm really hungry after seeing that delicious breakfast. I may have to fix some eggs, beans, potatoes, and salsa, too. It looks very vegetarian friendly to me.

I always put an orange in the bottom/toe of every stocking, even for the cats. They don't know it, but it helps keep the shape of the stocking when I fill it with other goodies.

Thanks for sharing your coffee, tangerines, and breakfast with us for T this Tuesday.

  10. Your orange tree looks beautiful! Enjoy them! We were just talking the other day about how the tradition of a orange in your stocking got started. Makes me thankful for plentiful fruit.

  12. Yes we had an orange or tangerine in our stocking at Christmas, maybe a few nuts and sweets as well, old memories are good ones.
It must be great having your own fruit tree, I think the flavour of the fruit must be delicious.
    Happy T day wishes.

  13. We recently had a wonderful harvest of limes. There's nothing quite like just picking fresh fruit from a tree in your own yard. I remember my parents receiving a box of Florida oranges like you describe each year for Christmas when I was very young. The funny (sad?) part is that, growing up in WI, we kids didn't appreciate fresh fruit. "Mother, I don't like these. They taste funny." lol.

    Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen

  15. Having your own tangerines - that sounds for me like a fairytale!
I grew up in eastern part of Germany, behind the iron curtain, never had tangerines and to get an orange from our grandma (linvin in Western Germany) was alsways an big gift.
    Enjoy your time

  17. New coffee to try is always fun. Never had any fruit or even coal in a stocking because we didn't do Christmas stockings. I know--deprived, eh--LOL! Enjoy those tangerines! :)
