Thoughts on Friday - 8/18.17

I was recently looking through some of my old sketch books and came across this which I'm not sure I've posted before.  I've been in a semi-arid creative desert for some time.

Mary Oliver is one of my favorite poets. This is what she has to say about doing our creative work.

"The most regretful people on earth are those who felt the call to creative work, who felt their own creative power restive and uprising, and gave to it neither power nor time."

No doubt I need to get out the tools and give creativity some time.

  1. This girl is lovely, Darla. I enjoy watching your creative juices and what they produce. And I am fascinated by the various mediums you use, too.

  2. You do need to play because this sketch is fabulous, which means your muse is just on vacation. Hope she's back soon.

  3. What a beautiful sketch Darla. That is an excellent quote, and I am guilty of leaving creativity to the last, but am always craving to get to it! Too much life gets in the way. I hope your mojo comes back soon for you; you are a wonderful talent.

  4. I know the feeling. Life gets really busy with other things sometimes and you can get out of the groove altogether for a while. She's very pretty. Hope you do some sketching again soon. :)
