Tea Stands for Tuesday - 12/15/15

Our family grows and it can be hectic finding a time that works for everyone to get together.  One of the "traditions" we have started is to get together with one branch of the family mid month to exchange our presents.

My daughter fixed brunch for everyone and set the table with her pretty holiday dishes.  You'll notice a couple things out of line, a couple of toddlers were anxious to get started.

We had a delicious French toast casserole, bacon, fruit and juice along with tea for our brunch.  Daughter isn't a coffee drinker, can you believe that?

It was a lovely if somewhat hectic time.  4 of the guests were less than 3 years old.  This way of celebrating the holidays with family works well for us. I don't think it is so overwhelming for the little ones either.

Now it is time to take my cup of coffee and head over to Elizabeth's to see what others have been doing.  Join me if you can, there are always interesting things going on there.

  2. I much prefer this type of get together than the crowded room type of party. We have a mixture of both during the holiday season, too. I think I would like your tea drinking daughter, :)

  4. I think this is a lovely idea to break the month up, especially when it involves little people who can overwhelmed by the big day. I love your daughter's Christmas china, what a fabulous set to enjoy!! Happy t day to you, Annette

  5. It's a great idea, Darla. And not so stressful for the little ones when commotion and upheaval are the usual and they get cranky and want to go home. What a beautiful table and sounds as if you had a lovely time.

  6. A good idea for little kids, who can get so "screamy" when there are too many people around.

  7. What a perfect solution to the Christmas Day crowd. Much calmer, and you get to see everybody this way, not just the ones who are available on the actual day. I'll bet it was fun watching the under-3s :)

  8. Like others, I am in awe of your daughter's table and the beautiful china she used. It is all so lovely.

I like that the month was broken up with smaller parties, because some adults don't do well with small children, and some children can get carried away. I think this must have been the perfect setting and not overwhelming, as can often be the case.

Thanks for taking us to your tea drinking daughter's for a wonderful and relaxing T this Tuesday.

  9. What a good idea to do it in stages, rather than all together in great chaos. It's much nicer to have a small chaos....
The table looks very inviting. I'm sure you all had a very lovely special time.
    Thanks for sharing.
We are having really lovely weather here. I'm sitting on the terrace baking in the sun and have had to come in as I can't see the screen very well!(Indoors it is cold mind! Tonight we will light the fire).

Happy T-day and have a good week,
    Lisca

  13. Very nice for everyone to celebrate in smaller groups, I think. You have a daughter that doesn't drink coffee? Amazing! ( have two who don't. Doesn't it make you wonder about future generations? lol

  14. Smart! I know a lot of people who split up the holidays like that. And others who trade years. You have to do what works, right? :):) Must be quite a day with four under three!! Fun, though!
    Happy T-Day! :)

  16. Hi Darla! We try to do that here too. When everyone shows up at my Mom's for Christmas Day it's so crazy that we don't often get to see the grandkids open their gifts. My kids and I will be getting together on Saturday to have our celebration. The table setting looks great, even with the toddler adjustments :)

Sounds like you had a Merry time.

  18. That is a nice tradition, and a brunch sounds rather calm. Of course with 4 people under 3 it probably is far from calm - but certainly a lot of fun!

  19. I love a festive brunch. Your daughter sets a pretty table, with lovely festive dishware. I like the sound of a French toast casserole, in fact had been thinking of trying it for our Christmas breakfast here. So cute the toddlers tugging at the table :)) Have a lovely Christmas Darla.

  20. A gathering before Christmas amongst family members sounds very much ok.
I am meeting my older daughter and first granddaughter on Tuesday, Dec. 22 and on the Second Day of Christmas the small family will come over to Hagalund or we will meet together in their condo in Hki. Some traditions just have to be broken!
