Lunch with friends

This is the time of year the calendar gets very full, lots of scheduled meetings with friends.  I'm always happy to see them and wonder why we wait until the holidays to do this.

A few of us met recently met for lunch at Riva Cucina in Berkeley.  It was a new spot for me and very nice.  It was cozy and warm on a rainy day.

Riva Cucina bills themselves as serving Northern Italian cuisine using sustainably sourced ingredients from nearby farms and waters.

I had the Panino Con Pollo.  Grilled Petaluma Farms free range chicken breast, avocado, wild arugula, roasted pancetta and aioli.

You can find the lunch menu here.  I recommend it if you are in the area.

Do you find yourself getting together with friends more often during the holiday season?

  1. The restaurant looks pretty. The menu looks fancy -no lasagna, no spaghetti, and the only ravioli has pear lol! Not the kind of Italian food I'm used to seeing on menus around here, but I'd love to give it a go. :)

  2. Your meal sounds delicious but very filling. Yes, I do get together for food more often this time of year, although I attend a LOT of meetings year round too. :)

  3. Hello - it´s me ( not Adele ).
So very sorry for the lack of comments here. Busy times.
To answer your question: No, rather less, since Xmas time is home time - for everyone I know.
Liking the idea of testing new restaurants, though we eat out seldom.

  4. This looks like a lovely place for an annual event with friends. I saw the menu and thought much of it looked lovely, but not the most conducive for a vegetarian.

I don't eat out any more often this time of year, unless I have out of town guests. Then it's always my treat, because I don't want them suffering my often mediocre cooking.

  5. Yes! We do seem to make time for each other during the Christmas season. As one friend said recently, "I already have the house clean and decorated, so why not?"

  6. We always mean to get together with people during the holidays, but it rarely happens. I end up with a migraine on the day when it's supposed to happen, or one of us is sick, or something happens that just takes the wind out of our sails, and we don't go. *sigh*
