Monday morning 10/23/17

I knit quite a bit.  I'm not a beginner but certainly not an expert.

There are still lots of things I need to learn and one of those things is part of a pattern I'm working on.  A button hole.  A button hole made using a cast on cable for those of you who know stitches.  I googled, I Youtubed, I scratched my head.

It is a good thing the local knitting shop runs "knitting labs".  You just show up, pay a tiny fee and there is an expert knitting teacher there to help.  I'll be at the lab tomorrow.

Where do you go when you need help on a craft?

  1. Mornin' Darla. Love the picture with this post. As to where do I quote Godfather...I go to the mattresses. I usually sleep on the problem and face it again in the morning. Sometimes that works. My knit shop is the next stop - the last time was to refresh my memory of the kitchener stitches for a sock toe (many years ago now).

  2. I had to laugh at the photo you shared. I probably wouldn't be knitting and smoking while near a race car. But that's just me. I know I wouldn't be knitting. The others are debatable.

When I want help with a mixed media problem, I visit a LOT of blogs and get inspiration. Not even a TINY fee would entice me to pay for something I will eventually figure out on my own, sort of like the napkin you sent me (grin).

  3. I wouldn't know where to start with knitting, so you would be an expert to me 😁. I love learning new things and like to read or watch YouTube videos when I want to find out how to do something. The lab sounds such a great idea and there's nothing better than being shown how to do something one on one, perfect! Have fun tomorrow and wishing you a happy new week! J 😊

  4. A good question, Darla. I often ask friends crafty questions, and also my local sewing shop. However, I need to learn to find things on YouTube - everyone says you can learn it all there :)

  5. I am glad you have a place to turn too! I usually Google or YouTube.
